Ethics and FAQ’s

What are my ethics?

My promise to you is that I will never sugar-coat a reading. What this means is that I will not exaggerate what is coming through, nor will I hold back information. I will also never claim to be the final word on anything or the authority on your life. YOU are the authority on your life, I am simply a messenger.

The cards hold a message for you, I as the reader receive the message and interpret it the best I can. My readings are a conversation to uncover the meaning for you. I ask that you come open to the conversation and what is supposed to come through for you.

I also ask that if you have something that feels extremely recent or painful in your life, you maybe take some time before you book a reading. The more grounded you can come into a reading, the better.

I do understand that people book readings for clarity, guidance, hope and answers. My goal is to help you find understanding, feel more clear and even have an action plan in place. However, the best way to be open to receiving a good reading is by making sure you are open to feedback and messages coming through.

Readings are a great tool on this journey called life. I love helping my clients navigate at the crossroads. But please remember that a reading is just that—a tool to help you uncover your next steps and understand yourself on a deeper level.

My Ethical Boundaries and My Asks of You for a Successful Session

  • I will not read on or give advice around any medical situations, including pregnancies. Health and children may definitely come up, as they are large parts of many peoples’ lives, but I will not use the cards as a means to predict medical events or cures

  • I will not read for the energy of someone else: meaning, I will not read on if a person wants you back, how they are feeling about you, etc. However, I will pull cards asking about what you can do in a relationship situation, work situation, etc. to receive the outcome you desire

  • I ask that you come to a session with plenty of breathing room before and after your scheduled time. I don’t recommend booking on a busy day—allow this reading to be the most significant part of your day so that you have time to allow the information to integrate after your session.

  • Please come undistracted, in quiet place, and alone. This reading is for you and you only

 FAQs

  • Tarot is not a fortune-telling tool. I would argue that most tarot readers also have psychic abilities, simply because they have honed intuitive skills. However, ethical readers will not promise to tell you your future. I believe a tarot reader’s job is to simply pick up on the energy of your question or situation and relay the information they are gathering from the cards to you. However your brain interprets this message is the message you are meant to receive. Tarot uses imagery and symbols, along with the message from your reader, that helps you tap into your subconscious mind to understand situations more deeply and solve problems in new ways. I believe no tarot reader will tell you something you don’t already know at your core, the reading is simply helping you uncover that knowledge.

  • To keep this answer short-yes. I do not recommend ever going into a reading without an intention, focus or a question. Tarot readers pick up on the energy of the situation or question via the cards, and so if there is no focus, anything can essentially come through. You will get the most effective reading the more you can hone in on what exactly you would like to focus on or ask the cards. Your question doesn’t have to be perfect (we can talk more about your question for the cards during your reading,) but you do want to come to the reading with an idea of what you would like to ask or what you would like to focus on.

  • My goal as a reader is to ultimately help you build your confidence around trusting yourself and your own intuition. You can book as many readings as you like, but my rule of thumb is making sure you are not relying on the cards for every decision you make. Ultimately, you are the expert on your life and the cards are simply a tool to clear out the junk and find clarity in your decisions and actions. A lot of my clients will get readings quarterly, or when they have major life events or changes.

  • To be blunt, this is the wrong question to be asking when it comes to tarot. For readings to be effective, you must trust the process and also have some general belief that everything is energy and so any cards pulled while holding my intention for your question or situation will then reflect back and give us information. I actually see tarot as quite scientific: the cards use images, symbols, numbers and archetypes to evoke different memories or knowledge in your brain. So either way you look at it, whether you lean fully into the magic, or see it more literally, tarot allows you new ways to understand situations and offers different perspectives to help you find solutions.

  • You can expect to feel safe, comfortable and seen. You can expect to feel like you can be open and vulnerable with whatever is coming up for you. My readings are very conversational—it will not just be me talking at you. I involve you in the reading and want your insight and feedback as we go along. Reading for people is hands-down my favorite thing to do and I always leave a reading feeling like I just caught up with a great long-time friend.
